Katherine “Cassie” Rothrock Gamble, age 84, died peacefully in her home on Saturday, September 7, 2019 with loving family at her side.
Cassie was born in Bethlehem, Pa. to Dr. Henry (Harry) and Katherine (Kay) Rothrock. She received her undergraduate degree in chemistry from Mount Holyoke College in 1956. She and her beloved husband, Bill, were blessed with 60 years of marriage until his death in 2016. Her greatest pleasures were her faith, her family, and service to her community. One of Cassie’s deepest joys was the love and care of her children and her grand- and great-grandchildren.
Cassie participated for many years with Bill and their children in medical missions in Honduras, and she and Bill lived in both Kenya and Tanzania, providing care at mission hospitals. While they traveled all over the world, they also spent much time at their home in Hovland. It was a deeply special place to both of them. They were an active part of the congregation at Trinity Lutheran and loved being welcomed as a part of that community.
In Cassie’s final days, she was surrounded by family and experienced much laughter and love.
Cassie is preceded in death by her beloved husband
Bill, their son, David, and her sister, Carolyn Searles. She is survived by her children Tom (Anne), Kay (Dave), and Anne (Jim); 11 grandchildren, Mandy (Jason), John, Alex, Lucy, Katie, Joseph, Ellie, Robert, Grace, Jacob and Rose; and two great-grandchildren, Blake and Madi.
A memorial service celebrating Cassie’s life will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, Hovland, on Sunday, October 6 at 10:45 a.m. All are welcome to attend.
