Karen Blackburn
Karen Blackburn has been selected to be the next executive director of Cook County Higher Education. Blackburn will take over the position held by Paula Sundet Wolf, who announced earlier that after 20 years, she was retiring.
“I am very excited to start my new position,” said Blackburn.
Karen holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from Yale University. She has lived and worked in the county for the past 22 years, operating her bookkeeping service and serving 10 years as controller for Lutsen Mountains. She also worked briefly for the Cook County Economic Development Authority (EDA), and for the last three years, she has worked as the financial coordinator in the Auditor/ Treasurer’s Office for Cook County.
Blackburn will start on June 12.
On Sunday, June 11 there will be a retirement party for Paula and a chance to meet and greet Karen. The party will be held at 5:30 p.m. at Voyageur Brewing Company.
