After the first inning, Taconite led 1-0 over the Cook County/ Silver Bay Legion baseball team, but the boys from Aurora would only lead for a short time.
Neither team scored in the second, but the Vikings erupted for ten runs in the third and added one in the fourth and one in the fifth to take a 12-2 win. The game ended after five innings because of the ten-run rule.
Landon Sheils was 2-4 with two RIBs to lead Viking hitters. Landon also had two stolen bases and scored twice.
Amos Falter and Hunter Gomez each had one hit; Falter drove in two runs and Gomez one. The Vikings only collected four hits but were walked nine times. Jacob Carpenter walked twice in his two at-bats and stole five bases, scoring twice. Gomez and Falter also had two stolen bases, and the Vikings ran wild on the basepaths. R. Shannon walked three times, scored twice, and had two stolen bases.
Amos Falter was the winning pitcher. Amos threw for three innings, striking out eight while allowing two hits and two runs. C. Smith pitched two innings in relief. Smith didn’t allow a hit or a walk and struck out two.
The Vikings had one error, while Taconite ended with five errors.
