Junior Legion Cook County/Silver Bay team shuts out Two Harbors



It was all Cook County/Silver Bay in the July 13 away game against the Two Harbors Agates as the Jr. Legion team polished off the Agates 16-0.

Two of Harbor’s batters were shut down, going hitless in four innings, and the Agates only collected four walks.

Meanwhile, the Vikings scored two in the first, six in the second, one in the third, and seven in the fourth to close out the game based on the ten-run rule.

Jacob Carpenter was 4-4 with five RBIs to lead Viking hitters. Ethan Tate was 2-3 with one walk and three RBIs, and Hunter Gomez was 2-4 with two RBIs. The following Vikings each had one hit in the game, Amos Falter, T. MacGillivray, Jake Mixdorf, and R. Shannon.

Clayton Smith started on the mound and took the win. Clayton threw 2.2 innings, striking out five while walking three. Jake Mixdorf threw .1 innings, and Hunter Gomez pitched the last inning striking out three while walking one.

The Vikings didn’t commit any errors, while the Agates had one.
