Junior Legion CC/SB beats Barnum



The Vikings Junior Legion Cook County/Silver Bay team traveled to Barnum on June 17 and came away with a 13-6 win.

Barnum got off to a 4-0 lead after the first inning of play. The Bombers led 4-2 after two and the score was tied 4-4 after three innings. Neither team scored in the fourth, but the Vikings scored two in the fifth, two in the sixth and five runs in the seventh to run away with the win.

Jake Stadler pitched six innings for the Vikings. Jake allowed six runs, ten hits and struck out nine to pick up the win. Bodzak pitched all seven innings for the Bombers. He allowed seventeen hits, thirteen runs, had ten strikeouts and walked two.

Amos Falter went four for five at the plate while Hunter Gomez was three for five with five RBIs. Jake Stadler was three for five with two RBIs while Jacob Carpenter scored four runs for the Vikings and went two for four at the plate. Hunter Rex was two for two with two RBIs. Tucker Cook, Benelli Myers and Jake Mixdorf each had one hit for the Vikings.

Viking Senior Legion CC/SB tie

Playing away, the Vikings Senior Legion team played Barnum/Moose Lake on Thursday, June 16.

Both teams scored two runs in the first, but Barnum kept scoring, adding two in the second, four in the third and one in the fourth, all the while holding the Vikings scoreless over three innings. However, the Vikings scored seven in the fifth to tie the game at nine to nine and the game ended after Barnum couldn’t score anymore runs.

Jacob Carpenter and Hunter Gomez each had two hits while only Patrick Pierre and Isaac Sandstrom each had one hit in the contest. Gomez had the biggest hit of the night, a home run that tied the game.

Each team ended with six hits and nine runs. The Vikings however had four errors while the team from Barnum didn’t commit an error.

Patrick Pierre started on the mound for the Vikings. Patrick pitched two innings allowing three hits, seven runs walking six and striking out three. Isaac Sandstrom pitched three innings of relief. Isaac allowed three hits, two tuns, walked four and struck out one.

O Reneua pitched four innings for Barnum. He allowed five runs, four hits, struck out three and walked six. Ermatimger pitched one inning of relief. He allowed two hits, four runs, walked one and struck out one.
