Down 3-0 after three innings of play, the Cook County/Silver Bay Jr. Legion team got just enough offense and pitching to beat International Falls 6-5.
The game was played June 30, on a windy but very warm night at the Arleigh Jorgenson baseball field in front of nice crowd of fans.
Benelli Myers started the game on the mound for the Vikings. He pitched six innings, allowing three hits, five runs, ten walks and he struck out five. Jake Stadler pitched the seventh inning. He allowed one hit and struck out two to save the win.
Amos Falter had the big hit in the fifth inning. Amos doubled on a 1-2 count, driving in two runs to give the Vikings their first lead of the night.
Jake O. started for the Broncos. He pitched four innings, allowing one hit, two runs, two walks and striking out six. Hayden S. came in and pitched the last two innings. Hayden gave up four runs, four hits, two walks and struck out two.
The Falls players committed two errors while the Vikings had three.
Jacob Carpenter, Tucker Cook, Hunter Gomez, Amos Falter and Jake Mixdorf, each had one hit for the Vikings. Hunter Gomez was 1-3 but he had three RBIs to lead the Vikings in that department.
The Vikings ended with a comeback win and have now won two in a row.
