Both the 7th and 8th grade Viking volleyball teams had great seasons this fall, with both teams going undefeated to lead the Polar League.
The season culminated on October 13 when the junior high teams played in the Carlton tournament at the Four Seasons Sports Complex with all Polar League schools in attendance.
Although the 7th grade team had numerous cancellations due to teams not wanting to travel to Cook County, they played exceptionally well at Carlton, finishing 3rd out of eight teams. They placed first in their pool, earning their way to the pre-championship round. “Their matches were very close,” said Coach Kelly Roberts.
The 8th grade girls once again proved their mettle and came through, winning all of their games in the tourney to finish in first place.
Coach Roberts said, “They put an exclamation point on the season by going undefeated in the tournament. They won 10 straight games. Out of those 10 games, only one was close. The rest of the time they were on fire.”
They kept things going into the final match against Cromwell, whom they defeated 25-10, 25-19.
“They all played really well, every single one of them,” said Coach Roberts.
