Judith C. Norvell


 

 

Judith C. (Judy) Norvell passed away peacefully at North Shore Living in Grand Marais on September 13, 2021, after battling Alzheimer’s Disease for many years.

Judy was born on November 20, 1935, to Andrew and Alice Goblirsch in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota. She grew up the middle child of three and went to St. Mary’s Catholic School. After high school she attended The College of St. Teresa in Winona, Minnesota, graduating with a degree in Dietetics. She married Jim Norvell on November 19, 1960, and together they raised four children. Judy spent her professional career working as a Dietician in nursing homes all over Northern Minnesota. She retired from the Minnesota Veterans Home in Silver Bay in the year 2012. Judy and Jim, her husband of 57 years, spent their retirement years following their grandchildren’s sporting events, traveling, and taking care of one another. Judy was the absolute best parent, grandparent, and great grandparent; she was truly a blessing and gave of herself generously whenever called upon by her family. She was preceded in death by daughter Patty in 2007, husband Jim in 2017 and survived by daughters Kathy and Susan (Jim Roy) son Andy (Shelley), grandchildren Megan Stueber (Jesse), Madison, Cameron, Hailey, Nate, and great grandchildren, Paislee and Greyson. A private family Mass will be held, in lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. John’s Catholic Church in Grand Marais or to the Alzheimer’s Organization at act.alz.org/donate.
