Joynes offers to pay Lutsen 99er entry fees for first 100 kids ages 12-18

Avid bicyclists Jim and Shanie Joynes, owners of Joynes Department Store and Ben Franklin, are once again offering to pay for 100 entries into the Lutsen 99er bike races for kids ages 12 through 18.

Last year, Joynes sold Darn Tough Socks at the Lutsen 99er, with 100 percent of the proceeds paying for those 100 youth entries.

If you are between ages 12 and 18 and would like to participate in the 19-, 39-, or 69-mile race, entries are now available.

Contact Jay Arrowsmith-DeCoux at Fireweed Bike Shop in Grand Marais to claim your spot. Entries are limited and are given on a first come basis. Entries are also available at Ski Hut, Spokengear, and in Thunder Bay.

“We want to get kids on their bikes,” said Jim. “Our mission is to provide a physical challenge while eliminating a financial hurdle. If you have a bike and a helmet, I challenge you to accept our offer and ride at least 19 miles.”
