Head to downtown Grand Marais on Friday, November 25 to be part of the annual Christmas Parade! Don some festive warm clothes and join the fun!
The Grand Marais Chamber of Commerce, Cook County Visitors Bureau, Girl Scouts and the Cook County Band are joining forces to kick off the Grand Marais Christmas Festival on Friday, November 25. Along with a parade, tree lighting, and visit with Santa Claus, there is a renewed effort to encourage Grand Marais businesses to decorate for the season and to join the parade.
At least one business, the 70-year-old Joynes Ben Franklin Department Store, is taking the challenge and encouraging others to do the same. “Skipper the Seagull,” the Joynes Department Store mascot, issued an announcement: “We challenge all businesses and groups to make this parade the best ever. Join the fun! Put together a float, walk in a group or decorate your car. Let’s show our community spirit!”

Tree Lighting:
4:30-4:45 at Harbor Park.
The Cook County school band will
be providing the music as the town’s
brightly lit evergreen is revealed for the
festive season. Hot chocolate will be
served to keep you nice and toasty.
Annual Christmas Parade
Parade starts at 5 pm. Line up at Senior
Center parking lot at 4:30 p.m. After
the parade, enjoy cookies, cider, hot
chocolate and pictures with Santa in
the Upper Deck of Blue Water Café.
There are cash prizes for
the parade winners!
Decorate the downtown
Vote for your favorite decorated
business! Look for the brightly
wrapped ballot box (it looks just like
a giant Christmas present) at the
Grand Marais Information Center on
Broadway. Cast your ballot for the
business you feel has caught the
holiday spirit in the best way!
