To encourage artists to examine the overlap between creativity and spirituality, Spirit of the Wilderness Episcopal Church is sponsoring a show again this year.

Illumination: Igniting Imagination is the theme for this year’s show, which runs from March 13-29 at the Johnson Heritage Post in Grand Marais.

Just as medieval artists—who could have just copied away day after day—allowed their imaginations to be ignited, local artists will take part to express illumination, bringing something new to life in their art.

The meaningful event opens with a wine and cheese reception at 5 p.m. March 13, followed by a presentation at 6:30 p.m. entitled The Making of the St. John’s Bible by Susan Sink, author of the threevolume The Art of the Saint John’s Bible.

On March 14, from 10 a.m. to noon, Sink will teach Illuminating Wisdom, an interactive class.

There is a $10 supply fee, and participants are asked to contact Bonnie Gay Hedstrom (hedsgm@boreal.org) and RSVP.

The show closes at 5 p.m. on March 29.
