John M. Alleman





 

 

John M. Alleman died unexpectedly June 30, 2014, in Grand Marais.

John was born on December 21, 1984. He is from St. Paul, Minnesota and is survived by his parents Arnie and Helen; brothers and sisters Mike (Shannon), Mary, Debbie (Joseph Person), Susan (Joel Bluhm), Mark (Marilyn), Janine (Peter Harms), Melanie (Patrick Bluhm), Angie, Abby (fiancé Daryl Bluhm), and Benita; nieces and nephews Chelsea (fiancé Kenny), Alexa Alleman, Jalena and Vivian Person, Matthew, Thomas, Brady, Avalon, Dakota, Jestin, and Sedona Bluhm, Kiana, Dillon, Preston, Skyler, and Evan Alleman, Luci, Aiden, Jared, Erro, and Chloe Harms, Jacob, Clay, and Henry Bluhm, McCaleb and Abel Alleman. He is also survived by his two favorite dogs – Chance and Hickory.

John had Down syndrome and was involved in the Area 12 Special Olympics and participated in Adaptive Rec bowling at Midway Pro Bowl.

He worked at Merrick, Inc. and had worked at PAI too, where he made a lot of friends.

John was passionate about a lot in life—he loved many things and had a wide range of interests. He loved listening to music, both country (Carrie Underwood) and classical (Prokofiev). He took violin lessons with Denise and performed in recitals and concerts in his community at Christ’s Household of Faith. He played Happy Birthday at all family birthday parties. He read a lot of books, including the Bible and Louis L’Amour. He had his favorite TV shows – Castle, Survivor, Wrestling (John Cena), CSI, Nashville, Amazing Race and he loved watching the weather with Dave Dahl, and especially watching the clouds for thunderstorms. He was fascinated with Egyptian history – mummies, bronze, and burials.

John loved to travel and has been to Alaska, Tennessee, Oregon, South Dakota, Texas, Michigan, and Wisconsin. He vacationed in Deer River, Duluth, and Grand Marais too.

He went on his yellow 3-wheel bike around the neighborhood, visiting the fire station on Victoria, his cousin’s house, his sisters at the community school building, before stopping at the bridge over the freeway to watch traffic and get a semi to honk the horn for him.

John liked wearing T-shirts with funny sayings and country singers, like – “I put ketchup on my ketchup,” “Everybody loves a big guy,” “The world’s coolest uncle,” Toby Keith, George Strait and Blake Shelton. John enjoyed cooking with Benita.

John loved much and was much loved…. he is missed so much already.
