JoAnn Suttle Mark of Victoria, Texas passed away with her family by her side on January 7, 2015 in Pleasanton, Texas. She was 83 years old.
JoAnn was born on April 16, 1931 in Kosse, Texas to Nancy and Roscoe Suttle. In 1950 she married Roy D. Mark of Pearland, Texas. In 1960 they moved to Victoria.
JoAnn answered the company phones and helped dispatch crews for the Dia Log company where Roy served as district manager for many years. JoAnn and Roy were a wellknown team in the South Texas oil business.
First and foremost, JoAnn focused on raising her children and caring for her family. JoAnn shaped the lives of her children and family, providing unconditional love, support and encouragement. Her husband’s work required extensive travel and JoAnn ran things at home. She delighted in being a grandparent and great grandmother. JoAnn played an active and supportive role in the lives of her grandchildren.
Upon retirement JoAnn and Roy enjoyed exploring the country in their motor home. They traveled extensively and ventured far up into Alaska and Canada.
After a period of traveling and exploring, Roy and JoAnn settled on Grand Marais as their summer home. They spent summers on the shores of Lake Superior near the Canadian border where they made many new friends and enjoyed the beautiful weather.
For over 50 years, JoAnn was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Victoria. JoAnn loved her church and church family. She was active in United Methodist Women and held many offices in that organization. She was also active in Emmaus Walk and her Reunion group.
JoAnn will be greatly missed by many.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 64 years, Roy D. Mark, brother Howard Suttle, and by her son, Roy S. Mark.
She is survived by daughter Glynda Martin and husband Johnny, son Boyd Mark and wife Lisa; grandchildren Jahnna Heirholzer and husband Kevin, Mark Martin and his wife Brandy, Isabella and Elena Mark, great-grandchildren Jace, Kiley, Whitney, and dear brother-inlaw John “Mickey” Mark and wife Carleen of Pearland.
