Local beadwork expert Jo Wood is scheduled to demonstrate her craft at the Grand Marais Public Library on Saturday, March 16, from 10:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. This event is part of her residency at the North House Folk School, during which she is demonstrating her craft both there, and at public spaces around the community.
Wood, a longtime Cook County resident, is well known for her exquisite bead worked vignettes from the north woods. At North House Folk School she will be instructor in-residence from March 12– 22.
Wood’s bead and fiber landscapes celebrate a personal connection to nature through beautiful execution of her favorite technique, “painting with beads,” resulting in work that is widely recognized.
Jo generously shares her knowledge of materials and processes with those who are interested in the craft of bead embroidery. During this drop-in demonstration, she will share how she makes one-of-a-kind beaded scenes.
This event is free and open to the public.
