Jimmi Langemo of the Band of Souls will perform 6:30 – 10 p.m. on Aug. 10 at the GunFlint Tavern in Grand Marais along with his bass player, Nate.
The Minneapolis band is a blues, roots and old school R&B band. Last January, the band represented Minnesota in the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, Tennessee, where over 150 bands from around the world competed. “We earned our way to the semi-finals. It was quite an honor,” said Langemo.
The band’s fifth album, The Graveyard Shift, will be coming out later this fall.
Of the Grand Marais appearance, Langemo said, “It’s right in the middle of a northern Minnesota/ Wisconsin tour. Before our date in Grand Marais, we play in Menahga, Alexandria, and at the Bayfront Blues Fest in Duluth. After our gig in Grand Marais, we play two dates in Ely (including the Boundary Waters Blues Fest) and two dates in Wausau, including the Big Bull Falls Blues Fest.”
“We love Grand Marais! Playing in your town has been one of our goals since we started the band,” said Langemo.
