The National Association of Resource Conservation and Development Councils (NARC&DC) has announced that Jim Hall of Laurentian Resource Conservation and Development (RC&D) Council in Duluth has been inducted into the National Association’s Hall of Fame for his outstanding contributions to the RC&D Program.
Hall, a former Cook County commissioner and Lutsen resident, was chosen because of his tremendous commitment to the expansion of the RC&D Program in Minnesota.
According to a spokesman for the association, Hall worked tirelessly with community organizations, interested individuals, and RC&D councils in his home state to create the Laurentian RC&D Council in 1996. For the next decade, he guided the council, serving as the council chair and president and reaching out to other organizations to bring them under the RC&D partnership umbrella.
One particularly noteworthy project Hall led was the Renewable Energy Clean Air Project in International Falls. Theproject is tailored to fitthe needs and capabilities of small rural towns and uses organic feedstock to generate energy. Thanks to his championing of this tremendously successful project, he was able to bring national attention to the RC&D Program.
Hall also served as the president of the Minnesota Association of RC&D Councils from 2005 to 2007 and led the coordination of councils throughout the state. Since 2007, he has remained active in Laurentian RC&D Council, taking a special interest in natural resource quality and renewable energy.
