Jean L. Riley,
79, of Grand Marais, died Saturday, September 24, 2016 in Essentia Health-St. Mary’s Medical Center in Duluth.
She was born February 25, 1937 to Jim and Ann (Zylka) Croft in Duluth, and was a lifelong resident of Cook County. At the age of 13 she started working as a waitress at Naniboujou Lodge, and after other restaurants, worked over 35 years at The Hub/ Harbor Inn, retiring as a cook in 2003.
She married William Riley on October 30, 1954 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Grand Marais, and he preceded her in death in 1991.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Frank Foster.
Jean enjoyed cooking for people, fishing, knitting, crocheting, reading and helping others. She was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church.
She is survived by her sons, Bob (Sherri) Riley of Cloquet and Bill Riley of Grand Marais; grandchildren William Riley, Justin (Kayla) Riley, Allie (Jesse Sawyer) Riley, Nicole Riley and Kayla Riley; daughter-in-law Barbara Bezat of St. Paul; and close cousin, Jean Wood.
