Janice Lee Toftey, age 80, of Lake Havasu City, Arizona, passed away Easter Sunday, April 9, 2023. She was born July 28, 1942, in Duluth, Minnesota to Norman and Evelyn Toftey.
Jan grew up in Grand Marais and also lived in Minneapolis and Chicago. Jan was very proud of her North Shore roots. She always said her first job was working behind the counter of the Ed Toftey store when she was 8 years old! She worked for Cargill and Volkswagen before moving to the Sara Lee Corporation, where she managed the office of the chairman and CEO. This position provided opportunities to travel the world and have numerous interesting experiences.
Jan had a zest for life that enriched everyone around her. Her ability to tell a great story was enjoyed by her friends and family. She was interested in everyone and everything. Jan’s love of art and her creativity were evident in all that she did. She is survived by her son, Bruce Friesth, brother Robert (Gail)Toftey, sisters Diane Toftey Loh, Cheri Toftey (Jim Johnson) Deborah Toftey Melhado, eight nieces and nephews and eleven grand-nieces and nephews. She will be deeply missed by all.
