Grand Marais and formerly of Minneapolis, died Nov. 6, 2014 at the North Shore Care Center in Grand Marais, where she had been a resident for the last nine years.
She was born to Roy Pierce and Mabel (Holleque) Pierce on June 6, 1917 in Minneapolis. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1924 and went on to study at MacPhail School.
She married Frithjof (Fritz) Malcolm Morgan June 7, 1940. They had three sons: Douglas, Daniel and Jeffrey. She was an active member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Minneapolis, where her father-in-law, Dr. Claus Morgan, was pastor for 48 years. She worked as a receptionist in Dr. Theodore Smith’s pediatric office for a number of years in Minneapolis and Edina.
Janet and Fritz honeymooned on the North Shore and made many camping trips with their family throughout the years.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her sister.
She is survived by three sons, Douglas Morgan of Marine-on-St. Croix, Daniel (Cosette) Morgan of Hibbing and Jeff (Mary MacDonald) of Grand Marais; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Interment will be in early spring at Lakewood Cemetery in Minneapolis. The exact date is yet to be determined.
It was Janet’s wish that memorials be sent to Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Grand Marais.
