James Joseph Heinz, age 75, passed away in Lakeville, Minnesota on January 28, 2016. Jim was born on May 21, 1940 in St. Paul to Joe and Ann Heinz. He grew up in St. Paul and graduated from Murray High School in 1958.
Jim worked as an architectural draftsman. He also served in the U.S. Army from 1963 to 1965.
Jim was the father to five children, Sandy (Steve) Hansen, Paige (Bob) Harris, Mike (Ronni) Heinz, Andrea (Ross) Bryant and Nancy (Chris) Hinrichsen. He was also very proud to have 11 grandchildren.
Jim moved to Grand Marais in 1995 and loved living there. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, cooking, baking and ushering at his church, St. John’s Catholic Church in Grand Marais.
Mass of Christian Burial was held 11 a.m. Monday, February 1, 2016 at All Saints Catholic Church, 19795 Holyoke Ave., Lakeville. Visitation was 3-6 p.m. Sunday at White Funeral Home, 12804 Nicollet Ave. S., Burnsville, and also one hour prior to Mass at church.
Jim will be buried in Grand Marais at the
Maple Hill Cemetery in the spring.
The family would like to thank all the people who helped Jim with his journey, especially the staff of Highview Hills. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the Alzheimer’s Association of Minnesota, www.alz.org/mnnd.
