Jacquelyn Rose Short
was called home to the Lord on February 4, 2010 after a courageous two-year battle with lung cancer. She passed away at her home in Juliaetta, Idaho, surrounded by her family.
Jacquelyn Rose was born March 15, 1943 to George and Inga Forsberg in Willmar, Minnesota. She was the youngest of 11 children. Growing up she lived in several different states. Theylived all the way from Grand Marais, Minnesota to the California coast.
On July 8, 1966 she married Roy Short in Watertown, South Dakota. Work forced them to move to many areas. In the late ’60s they found St. Maries and lived in the Hells Gulch area for a few years before buying the family home on Renfro Creek Road in Santa, Idaho, where she and Roy lived for more than 30 years and raised six children. After retirement in 2006, they moved to Juliaetta to enjoy a warmer climate.
Jacquelyn spent most of her life as a homemaker… and an awesome one at that. She also worked at several
area businesses including Mike’s Drug Store and Economy Hardware in St. Maries. One of her many accomplishments in life was in the late ’70s when she returned to school and earned her GED before her oldest son graduated. She was a 40-year member of the St. Maries’ Eagles Auxiliary 2012. Her hobbies included traveling, crocheting, embroidery, gardening, cooking and she looked forward to spending time on her computer enjoying the family website.
Survivors include her husband, Roy; son Vince (wife Jana), daughter, Valerie (husband Dave), son, Jaysen (wife Lauri), son, Dean (wife Jaci), and daughter, Inga (husband Jerry); sisters Irene, Millicent, Doris, Kay and Esther. She was gifted with 14 grandchildren and five greatgrandchildren.
Jacquelyn was preceded in death by her parents; her son Gene; great-grandson Bradley; brothers Kenny, George, Donovan, and Arnold; sister Marguerite; and three nephews. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to Family Hospice, St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, 1250 Idaho Street, PO Box 719, Lewiston, Idaho 83501.
Services were held at Hodge Funeral Home in St. Maries on Saturday, February 13 at 11:00 a.m.
