Kudos to the Cook County News Herald for the wonderful article and photographs on the J1 seasonal workers in last week’s issue. It is good to have these workers back working as servers, especially after their absence during the Covid years. They fill a definite need for more workers needed in Cook County and are so pleasant to visit with and hear bits and pieces of their life stories. After a busy summer in Grand Marais, they will return to their home country to continue their studies in law, mechanical engineering and social sciences. Such impressive goals!!
I only hope these workers can return next summer with more workers allowed to join them. It has been a pleasure to have them in our town.
