It is not too late to address climate change

If you haven’t had a look at the climate endgame for humans, you should. Current trends mirror a bleak study which gives us roughly twenty years before civilization collapses. Thanks, fossil fuel companies and do-nothing legislators and business interests more concerned with profits and lined pockets than future generations.

It is not too late, yet. And “yet” is slipping away. Posing at the southern US border is all well and good when fear rather than common sense is championed. Climate change costs are burdensome, say some… How burdensome is the forest fire? How burdensome is the flood? How burdensome is the fish dieoff because the salmon are cooking in the rivers? How burdensome is the mass death of coastline ocean critters? How burdensome is the choking algae? How burdensome is the firenado?

Yes, we may have our cake now, but we are putting burning ash in the lunch boxes of the future…or some other equally deadly and absurdly easy to recognize dangers. We are so smart, yet we appear determined to push the unborn off the cliffs of death simply because we can’t be bothered to change as a civilization.
