Iron Range Resources and Rehabilitation Board (IRRRB) Commissioner Tony Sertich has announced the re-launch of the Made on the Range website.
The website, located at www.madeontherange.com, features product and contact information for area businesses that produce, manufacture and sell products in northeastern Minnesota. There is no charge for participating businesses.
The site was originally launched in December 2011 in order to market and advertise local businesses and products, create awareness for shoppers within and outside the region, and stimulate the local economy. Due to feedback from participating businesses and website visitors, the site received a major facelift this past fall. The new site features a fresh, user-friendly design and improved navigation and function.
Major product categories on the new Made on the Range website include art and history, business, education, electronics, home and garden, personal products, and travel and recreation.
Sertich stressed the importance of local buying to the regional economy. He said, “Local buying helps create new jobs and economic growth. In fact, for each dollar spent at a locally owned Iron Range business, 68 cents of it remains in the state and local economy.”
Currently, there are over 400 participating businesses on the site, but new businesses are welcome. To be included, visit www.madeontherange.com and click on “Add Your Business.” Listings will be added on an ongoing basis, as they are received. The website will continue to be offered as a free service to participating businesses.
