IRRRB grants $350,000 to Lutsen housing project

Just hours before the special meeting held by the Cook County commissioners to discuss the Lutsen housing project with the public, it was learned that the Iron Range Resources Rehabilitation Board (IRRRB) had granted $350,000 to the Cook County/Grand Marais EDA for the planned 16-unit development.

The project consists of infrastructure and site work for new workforce housing development in Lutsen Township. One Roof Community Housing (ORCH) will construct a 16-unit apartment complex in Lutsen Township. The project consists of four buildings with four units of housing in each building.

Half of the units will be one-bedroom, and half will be two-bedroom apartments. One Roof Housing will be the developer and owner of the apartments.

The project is projected to create two permanent jobs and 17 construction jobs.
