The word everyone at the IRRRB and Lutsen Mountains Corporation (LMC) would like to avoid is “rehabilitation,” but as state representatives have told me, the IRRRB cannot legally do that.
The IRRRB can create cute new logos and self-promoting newsletters conveniently omitting the word “rehabilitation,” but they in actuality will always be the “Iron Range Resources and Rehabilitation Board.”
That leads to the question: Is Lutsen Township or LMC in need of rehabilitation?
Maybe a better title for this “evolving” entity should include “political gifting” or “pork barrel.” Let us give it a try, see how it fits. “The Iron Range Political Gifting Board,” or maybe “The Iron Range Pork Barrel Board,” or even better “The Iron Range Political Gifting and Pork Barrel Board,” and a new slogan — “Giving away your hard-earned tax dollars to the undeserving.”
As you know I could go on and on, but I will stop, but please, do correct your staff and your newspaper and identify the IRRRB correctly in the future.
Editor’s note: According to Kim Anderson, Executive Assistant for Iron Range Resources the agency’s full name is: State of Minnesota, a sovereign entity acting by and through its Office of the Commissioner of Iron Range Resources and Rehabilitation.
