For many years, Cook County has benefited from the generous support and partnership of the MN Department of Iron Range Resources and Rehabilitation (IRRR). Since July 2014, Cook County projects have received over $3 million in grants and loans from the IRRR.
Projects of the following entities have benefitted from the support of the IRRR. These projects help to diversify the economy, improve the quality of life, create employment opportunities and increase the tax base of Cook County and the IRRR service area.

Homeowners receive homestead credits. The county and the school district receive support from the taconite production tax.

Thank you to the IRRR board and staff, who work hard every day to carry out the agency’s mission to promote and invest in business, community and workforce development for the betterment of northeastern Minnesota.
Thank you to the miners and the workers in the supporting industries of the Mesabi Iron Range who work hard every day to bring the taconite to market. Without them there would be no production tax, no grants, loans, or property tax relief for the benefit of the IRRR service area.
