Iron Range Engineering (IRE) is hosting their second annual, overnight, engineering event designed especially for high school girls, grades 10-12, to test-drive engineering careers.
This activity-packed event is free and takes place on the IRE campus in Virginia, MN, Feb. 10 – 11, from 6 p.m. Friday – 1 p.m. Saturday. Preregistration is required, so hurry and contact araina.boyd@ire.mnscu.edu or kortani.martin@ire.mnscu.edu as soon as possible to sign-up. The deadline for registration is February 1, 2017.
The #engineerlikeagirl Night is a great opportunity for girls across northern Minnesota to connect with female engineering professionals, engineering students, and peers who share an interest in STEM. Inspired by the Always #likeagirl campaign, the mission of this year’s theme is intended to empower young women to apply engineering principles to problems that matter to them.
Last year, through the hard work and dedication of volunteers, the #ilooklikeanengineer Night was honored to receive a Public Choice award in the National Science Foundation’s STEM For All Showcase. This year, IRE has coordinated with Society of Mining and Metallurgy (SME), Society of Women Engineers (SWE), and the Range Engineering Council (REC) to create an even more dynamic, action-packed event.
