Irene Peterson is a lifelong resident of Grand Marais, the youngest of seven, born to Ole and Anna Allen. Longevity runs in the family as Irene’s father lived to age 92 and her siblings to the age range 84-99.
Irene was a longtime bookkeeper at Grand Marais State Bank and was the first one to learn to use a computer there. She is a lifetime and active member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church and a volunteer in many ways in the community, which led to her being chosen Senior Citizen of the Year. Irene currently resides at the North Shore Care Center. She is much loved and admired by the families of her four children, including 21 great grandchildren.
