Investigation into house fire continues— reward for information available

There’s a cool reward of up to $5,000 waiting for someone with information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the arson of a Hovland residence house.

The fire occurred in the early morning hours of Sunday, November 5, at 5774 Highway 61 in Hovland. The owner wasn’t home at the time of the incident.

Because both the criminal arson and SMFD investigations are still active, that information is investigative data and is not public at this time.

Since the occurrence of the fire the Cook County Sheriff ’s Office, along with the state fire marshal, have continued an investigation, but they could use help from anyone in the community who knows something that could help them close this case.

The reward is available through the Minnesota International Association of Arson Investigators for information that will lead to the arrest and conviction of the arsonist( s).

Anyone with information related to the arson is asked to contact the Sheriff ’s Office at 218-387-3030 or the Minnesota Arson Hotline at 800- 723-2020.
