Why don’t we use the 1 percent sales and use tax to build a gondola on the Old Ski Hill overlooking Grand Marais? It would be a draw for visitors 12 months out of the year. It would create a few jobs, fill motel rooms, sell gas etc. Any chance on using the old theater space as a green space? Picnic tables. Movie projector to show films at night on the side of the adjoining buildings? Something to draw people downtown after 5 p.m. at night?
Once again I say…The $15 million community center is unrealistic with this community starving for income. Please rebuild the pool where it is. Include an arcade to make some extra money, give the rec. park guests more to do and another reason to bring their kids to Cook County.
Wake up folks. This is insane!
