The duo of Carrie Vecchione and Rolf Erdahl will bring a fresh look—and delightful listen—to chamber music to the Arrowhead Center for the Arts stage on Friday, September 25.

Called “pioneers” by Minnesota Public Radio for “forging ahead with a new chamber music combination,” the engaging and entertaining Vecchione/ Erdahl Duo charts new territory for their combination of oboe and double bass in music that is accessible, challenging, and enlightening.

This award-winning chamber group of a different color will share with you their own repertoire of evocative music at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 25 at the Arrowhead Center for the Arts.

The Vecchione/Erdahl Duo (Carrie Vecchione, oboe; Rolf Erdahl, bass) is on a creative journey, inventing an enchanting body of work for this previously unexplored pairing of instruments.

As the world’s only professional oboe/bass duo, Carrie and Rolf ’s unique mission is to reach, involve, and educate people with the creative power of music. They share the genesis of pieces. Personally knowing all of their composers, they relate their creative processes to audiences. Their repertoire is virtuosic, demanding, and accessible— with folksong, jazz, tango, and literary inspirations. They make contemporary chamber music comprehensible, meaningful, engaging, and inspiring.

Carrie and Rolf recently completed a year as Minnesota Public Radio Artists in Residence, performing for thousands of Twin Cities kids in MPR Class Notes programs. Their debut CD “It Takes Two…” is produced and distributed by Centaur Records. Their most recent release, on Musicalligraphics, is the book/CD combination Askelad and the Seven Silver Ducks, composed and illustrated by Margi Griebling- Haigh and performed and narrated by Rolf and Carrie.
