Infant dies in Schroeder

Cook County Law Enforcement received a call at 5:43 a.m. on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 from a family staying at Lamb’s Resort and Campground in Schroeder. Their 3-week-old infant was cold and not breathing. Tofte Rescue Squad, Cook County Ambulance and the Cook County Sheriff ’s Office all responded. The male infant was declared deceased at Cook County North Shore Hospital.

The baby boy was Bode Orion Southard. His parents were Morgan Southard and Dianne Cheney of Stillwater, Minnesota.

The cause of death has not been determined and the coroner requires an autopsy for all persons under the age of 2, so the death is considered “under investigation.” However, according to Cook County Sheriff Leif Lunde, no criminal conduct is suspected to have occurred.
