Independence Day on Devil Track

The hot summer sunshine made an appearance just in time for the holiday weekend, as the lake came alive with boaters enjoying the beautiful weather.

The restaurant was slow for lunch, despite having live music in the backyard; apparently the neighbors were all enjoying the beautiful weather from their homes.

A float-illa of pontoon boats tied together made a brief appearance reminiscent of the cruise ships in Key West, Florida, where I used to spend my winter months. The ships would tie up to the pier and unload a few thousand happily intoxicated tourists that would briefly take over the entire city. Instantly the streets would fill with shoppers, drinkers, and people wanting to see the sights in a few hours before heading back to the ship.

The float-illa that visited us on the fourth, although not tourists, brought the same energy to our resort and were there in time to see the last few songs that “American Feedbag” had to play before heading back to Wisconsin.

This is our first big weekend of the summer at Skyport Lodge and it is exciting to see the rental boats and rooms get used as much as they are. The pontoon boat is very popular and for good reason, Devil Tack is a great lake to cruise around and look at lake homes while sitting in a comfortable chair under a canopy with a beverage in hand. In fact, we plan to spend the remainder of our holiday doing just that. Hope your 4th was as fun as ours.
