They stand in the silence of the morning
Edges of light highlight them
at the beginning of the day
Standing serenely near the Gunflint Trail
Are they asking someone
to notice them in some way?
These pine grow up from the forest floor
Offering a view to a passerby
Something striking for those
who travel slow enough
To admire the stand of trees
trying to reach the sky.
What made me stop to see them
What made me want to capture such a view
Was it that I live on the prairie
Where such a sight is seen by few?
