Improvements made at the Schroeder Town Hall

The Schroeder Town Board was as disappointed as everyone else when they had to close gatherings at the Schroeder Town Hall last year because of the pandemic.

However, while there were no events, things were still happening at the town hall, as the board took advantage of the hiatus and made some great improvements to the facility.

Lloyd Chase, a Schroeder Town Board supervisor recounts those improvements.

“We upgraded our restrooms with new fixtures and improved handicap accessibility to a restroom. We expanded our kitchen workspace by moving a wall and put in a new ceiling with new LED lighting.

“The serving window opening was raised higher to aid with air circulation. A new floor was installed and electrical outlets were added to better serve those preparing food for events.

“We also added two portable food prep tables for more prep space, while keeping some flexibility. The main hall now has LED lighting, as well. Out the back door, we added a larger deck area with a handicap ramp to make the hall more inviting to large groups and add another emergency exit for guests with disabilities.”

Chase said the improvements involved the labor of five local contractors and many volunteer hours.

“The improvements have met with rave reviews from the groups and families who have already held events here since the end of May,” Chase said, adding, “Many more events are already scheduled for the rest of 2021, but there are also plenty of open dates.”
