Although the physical infrastructure of most of Cook County came through the June 19 rainstorm relatively unscathed, many local businesses were negatively affected by the communication outage caused by flooding nearly 100 miles away. The Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) wants to hear from anyone adversely affected by the recent storm.
If you are an affected business or non-profit organization, you are encouraged to complete and submit a one-page survey to DEED as soon as possible. Randy Lasky of the Northspan Group is assisting with collecting storm damage data. Lasky said, “This information is needed as the state prepares to seek federal disaster recovery assistance and for State of Minnesota support and assistance.”
Lasky said time is of the essence and asked community members to complete the survey online as soon as possible. Find the survey on the Homeland Security and Emergency Management website: sgiz.mobi/s3/ d09f8604baef
The survey will document the extent of business/ non-profit organization damages both physical and business interruption losses. This includes lost revenues or the expense of cleanup, replacement inventory or equipment, employee absences, and any other impacts affecting a flood impacted business, including cancelled reservations. Lasky said, “This is not detailed in the survey but please be sure to document any of these kinds of impacts in the damages question.”
The goal is to create an accurate and complete database of damages to better understand where the needs are and ultimately find resources to help those in need.
The state is also asking that if you had significant damage to contact the Cook County Emergency Management Director at (218) 387- 3059.
