The fifth graders in Julie Viren’s and Jana Larson’s classes at Sawtooth Mountain Elementary have been discovering their powers of imagination and are taking part in the processes of engineering and invention. Students have been problem solving, developing curiosity and patience, enhancing math and science skills, and developing public speaking skills. All part of a student inventor’s project.

Several students decided to participate in a round of judging by Mr. Frost, Mrs. Carman, and the class’s senior student representative, Ashley Ross. Luke Johnson, Emma Smith, Cam Roy, Leif Anderson, Jessica MacCudden, Will Ramberg and Sela Backstrom will advance to the Minnesota Student Inventors Congress in Duluth on Feb. 3, 2012.
