If only candidates concentrated on issues

If only Ms. Silence and I could influence the “politicians”! It would be refreshing to view and read only truthful political ads and statements.

Interestingly, once a week, our Austin, Texas newspaper publishes a column titled, True, Partially True and Pants on Fire. It reviews several timely political statements that appeared in the newspaper that week…I don’t know who determines the correctness, but it is always of interest to read the evaluations.

And, as Rhonda wrote in the August 23 Unorganized Territory, how helpful to the voter, if during the political campaigns, “hopefuls” concentrated on the real issues facing our nation e.g. southern border solutions, Affordable Health Care, veterans affairs—obviously, the list is much longer.

And how “novel” to not be exposed to the “mud-slinging” and “bashing” of an opponent!

While I’m “criticizing” the political arena, how much better off our country would be if those in Washington, D.C. and the state governments would cooperate and not vote party lines on issues! Differing opinions, debate and discussion are good. But do they debate, and make decisions in a bipartisan fashion (what happened to “across the board” action)?

Yeah, I know money talks, office stability, etc. Many times new candidates profess this view too but then meet the “machine”!

I’m enough of a realist to know my “editorial” will not appear in the Washington Post. However, I’m sure I do have opinion company.
