Ice Storm rocks!

“ICE STORM” you rock! What’s this about you may ask? This was a very proud moment—no, an effort and competition—for a team of Cook County students in a regional robotics competition and reported in the March 12th News-Herald.

Read about it for a sense of pride in these students and helpful adults and the adventures they encountered and overcame. We’re talking robots here, which are no simple matter to design, build and operate to perform some amazing things.

Ice Storm is the team name and they battled 59 other competitors from states in the upper Midwest plus a team from Australia. They came in an amazing 6th place, which could have warranted a ticker-tape parade through town but maybe save that for next year’s success.

The challenges they encountered and dealt with in such an effective and successful manner speaks well of team members, coaches/helpers and of a school that supports them. They also received the singular Judges Award in the competition, recognition of their achievement.

Congrats to every Ice Stormer, you young women and men “ROCK!”
