Ian Patrick Holzman

Ian Patrick Holzman, 47, of Woodville, Wisconsin, passed away unexpectedly on March 1, 2017 at his residence.

Ian was born October 27, 1969 in Victorville, Calif., the son of James Lane Holzman and Linda Ann (Rannels) Lewis. Ian graduated from Ely High School, the Class of 1988. Ian worked for his dad, Jim Holzman and step-mom Margy Nelson for several years at Clearwater Canoe Outfitters & Lodge on the Gunflint Trail. He was a hard worker, developing lots of skills and knowledge of the area.

He continued his education receiving a certificate in welding at Dunwoody Institute. Ian was proud to be scuba certified, and worked as an underwater welder at Miami Diver in his earlier years. In most recent years, he was doing construction and carpentry work. Ian was very personable and well-meaning. He had a good heart.

Ian was most proud of his children: Max, Olivia and Amelia. He cherished his time with his girls; together they enjoyed coin collecting and woodworking. He was especially proud to be a part of the Dad and Dolls dance recital with Amelia, and was fond of rock collecting and polishing with Olivia. Ian delighted in their 1-man and 2-girl band, with Ian on the bass guitar, Olivia on drums, and Amelia on the tambourine. Ian and his family loved watching movies together, while Ian spoiled everyone with his candy stash. He appreciated the beauty of nature and the peacefulness of the outdoors. Behind the sometimes-gruff exterior, Ian had a soft heart for others, as well as the beloved family pets.

Ian will remain in the heart of his son, Max Schally; daughters Olivia and Amelia Holzman; mother, Linda Lewis; father, Jim Holzman; significant other of 16 years, Erika Jordahl; brother, Pat Holzman; former stepmother, Margy Nelson; former stepfather, Wayne Lewis; as well as other relatives and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Robert and Evelyn “Toddy” Holzman; and maternal grandparents, George and Lorraine “Tudy” Rannels.

A Gathering of Family and Friends took place on Thursday, March 9 in Baldwin, Wis. In Ian’s memory, memorials may be directed to WESTconsin Credit Union in Baldwin for his girls.
