The school’s cooks have been working hard this summer.
Cook County I.S.D. 166 summer meal program has been serving 60 breakfasts and 95 lunches on average each day.
The program is headed up by Kelly Roberts who is assisted by Jennifer Schroens and Jenna Berglund.
School activities for the fall are uncertain at this time, said principal Megan Meyers. The school won’t have clear direction on how to proceed until July 27th when the state will come out with guidelines about how to conduct those activities.
The classroom portion of Driver’s Education will be held July 27-31 and August 3-7 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Students are required to take 30 hours of classroom instruction before they can take behind the wheel. At this time the school district doesn’t have a behind the wheel instructor.
2020-2021 course registration for Middle School and High School is ongoing, but both Principals Meyers and Dorr point out there are more obstacles than usual without a full time school counselor on site yet. Mr. Dorr is working hard to get all students scheduled by the end of July, noting some students still have to submit their online registration forms.
About a dozen students are working on credit recovery this summer through the school district’s Odyssey ware program. Cameron Hood and Maria Burnett are working with students in Grand Portage and Mr. Dorr is working with students in the rest of the county to make sure they get their work done and receive needed credits to graduate.
Sawtooth Elementary class lists will be posted on August 1, by the Eagle doors.
