Will they or won’t they?
Will the school district ask kids to return to school for classes or will some other form of primary education take place this coming fall?
It’s a question on all of the minds of parents who have school age kids, especially parents who have children in elementary school.
A July 9 message to parents of school children indicates the district is considering three options presented by the state: In-person learning for all students; A hybrid model with strict social distancing and capacity limits, and distance learning only.
The email states, “Our goals when working though the three scenarios is to develop a clear plan that is logical, safe, and best for educating our students. We are working in a ‘what if…’ state to identify the different curve balls that could come our way. There is not a solid plan at this time that we can share with families and please know that we have a great staff and community that together can create a solution that will work.
“On July 27, 2020, the state of Minnesota will be giving further recommendations that will support our planning for the beginning of the school year. After the announcement, we will adjust our plan to meet the guidelines and will be releasing our local plan to start the 2020-2021 school year at Cook County ISD 166.”
