I do not always read the entire weekly diatribe of Mr. Gamble in this newspaper, but do have to compliment him on the time he must spend and the quality of his writing, even recognizing his apparent selective and creative use at times of the “facts.”
I am particularly interested in his singular focus on county tax rates and spending. So I am puzzled as to why he does not channel these energies more specifically at getting involved in county government, i.e. why does he not put his “hat in the ring” for county commissioner? Oh wait! Yes, that’s right, he was a county commissioner a short time ago and was soundly defeated in his re-election bid after one term in office.
So maybe his single-issue focus on tax and spending is not what everyone in Cook County is interested in. I suspect there are a few other elements that make up the quality of life in the county that folks are attracted to. Maybe it’s time more of those voices are heard in “counter-point” to Mr. Gamble’s singular issue!
