Paul Wiegle and Lacey Kimball cover Cook County and portions of Lake County for Hunt Electric Corporation. Hunt Electric Corp., based in St. Paul, recently purchased API Electric Co. Paul has been with API since 2007 and Lacey is newly hired, but has worked as a journeyman electrician in Cook County since 2005.
Lacey Kimball is the newest employee for Hunt Electric Corporation, formerly known as API Electric. Kimball started work on April 2.
Kimball has been a journeyman electrician since 2005. She takes over for the recently retired Roger Waage and is working with Paul Wiegele. Paul has been with API since 2007 and lives with his wife Tracy and sons Nick, 14, and Kyle, 13, in Hovland.
“We do pretty much everything except installing solar,” said Wiegele.
But, said Kimball, “We work with people who install solar. They do their part and we do our part and make things work together.”
One advantage of working for a large company is having access to lots of different type of equipment. Currently Wiegele and Kimball are doing a job at the border that requires a bucket truck.
“We have access to any number of bucket trucks, different sizes for different jobs. That’s one advantage of working for a bigger company,” said Wiegele.
Both Wiegele and Kimball are on call 24-7 in Cook County. “If there is a dangerous situation, just give us a call and we will come and fix it,” said Wiegele.
Whether it’s installing off-peak heat, wiring new construction or rewiring an older home, Wiegele and Kimball are ready to go to work. “We also trouble-shoot and perform maintenance,” said Wiegele.
Deb Benedict, WTIP Radio station manager, said, “Lacey did a great job on the electrical work here at the station. She listened to us and worked well with changing plans. We really enjoyed working with her.”
Rob Hackett, general manager for the newly refurbished Grand Marais Dairy Queen said, “Paul has been great for us. He’s very attentive and gets the work done for us very efficiently. He’s very helpful and willing to help out. He’s worked on multiple projects for us and we’ve been very happy with his work.”
Jean Cochrane also had great things to say about Lacey, “She did a great job for us when we were building our house. She was very careful and conscientious. She had a lot of problem-solving to do and she did it well. Plus, it was a cold, dark winter and she never complained. She was a joy to work with.”
When Kimball isn’t working as an electrician she is the busy mother of 8-monthold twins Jadin and Jenessa. Her husband Cam Kimball, an employee of Hedstrom Lumber Company, is a big help with the kids, she said, as well as her in-laws.
“We are really blessed. The twins are easygoing. They smile a lot and are busy, happy babies. Not that they don’t have their moments, but overall they are a lot of fun,” Lacey Kimball said.
And Kimball still works part time as a waitress at Lutsen Resort. “I’ve been there for 10 years. I guess I’m a lifer,” said Kimball with a smile.
