Human trafficking is an awful pox on society

Earlier this year there were several meetings along the North Shore regarding human trafficking, however since that time it seems there has been silence on the issue.

The busyness of prime tourism season can cover this type of activity, I also think the routines of the off-tourism season can be just as covert. I wonder what drives individuals to erase any vestige of care or compassion for a fellow human being.

The world tells us that materialism is the way to happiness and self esteem which may resonate for someone who needs that boost in their self image, trafficking can be a method for revenue. At what point does the perception of need transition to tyranny over another’s individuality and freedom?

The tyrant now sees him/ her self-elevated, more important than those enslaved with lucrative capital flowing.

Witchcraft also plays into the picture, an occult power using innocent, unable to consent children and/or non-consenting adults in rituals too heinous for the common individual to think possible.

Exploiting power over another in these types of manner is in direct opposition to what the Bible says. Philippians 2:3 says “Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind let each of you regard one another as more important than himself.”

We are made in the image of God; it is sad to see the outcome of our fellow human beings when God is taken out of the picture.
