It is a fact that “being alone” all the time is not good for you. Covid made separation almost mandatory. We live in a cocooning society where it is easy for everyone to stay inside. It is so easy to be glued to our couch clicking the remote or reading another book or getting mad at the latest online political article. Even doing hobbies alone can get old. The old song is correct: “People who need people are the luckiest people in the world.” It does take some effort to get out of the house. This is especially true for men. At The Hub, we encourage you to connect with your friends or create new friends. You can stop by in the middle of the day for coffee with a friend. Maintaining caring connections is a priority at The Hub
YOU ARE INVITED FOR LUNCH!
Did you know The Hub (Senior Center) is not just for Seniors? While Seniors (60 and over) can eat a great lunch (dine in and take out) for $4.50. Those under 60 can enjoy a meal too, for $8.00. Yes! It is a great bargain.
Just reserve your meal in advance, or by 9:30 am Monday-Friday by calling 218-387-2660. Lunch served at NOON. Check out the monthly menu on the Hub website: Grandmaraishub.com
Meals on Wheels (a program of AEOA) is another great way we care for our community members who might need some meal assistance. Recently someone who lives alone had shoulder surgery and said, “No one told me that I could have received Meals on Wheels!” We are here for you. With 5 drivers who bring food to your door, within a 5-mile radius of Grand Marais. Outside of town? You can get friends to drop off a meal. Call and ask if you have questions, Chris 218-387-2660.
Mark Your Calendar: Love the Hub, Community Pancake Breakfast. Saturday, Feb 25, 9 to noon.
