Hub happenings

I was asked, recently, “Is the HUB (formerly known as Senior Center) relevant in TODAYS’ citizenry?

The quick answer is YES!

The pandemic has changed many things we all do, many things we took for granted. During the early part of Covid-19 many citizens were looking for appointments for vaccines. The HUB received countless calls for assistance in making those appointments. Our director connected people to navigate the process, get rides, and assured our Seniors of the best care possible.

Today the HUB is still helping people with mobility, social, nutritional and strength issues.

Mondays starts the week off right with “tech support” from a younger member of the community; there is the meeting of “Fiber Guild” where one can make or watch.

Tuesdays there is “Tai Chi”, every Tuesday; “Drivers testing” on the second and fourth Tuesday; “Foot Care” on the third Tuesday; and “Crafts” usually the paper type, every Tuesday. “Public Health advisory council” meets every other month, on the first Tuesday and the PHHS Board monthly third Tuesday.

Every Wednesday, the HUB has “Chair Yoga”, all are welcomed; there is “Bridge” played in the afternoon. On the third Wednesday, every other month, “Arrowhead Economic Opportunity Agency” meets.

Thursdays the “Craft Ladies” are back with laughter and new ideas, “Cribbage” is played early in the day. “Adult Protection and Care team” meets on the second Thursday each month. We are lucky to have “Tech support” again on Thursday. Bring your devices with you.

Veteran issues, Blood Mobile, Medicare help, Legal help – Kiosk, even parties for Showers, Anniversaries, Birthday celebrations are AND CAN be held at the HUB.

With all this activity, you might ask, “Is there room for US”? There are many comfortable chairs in a group setting to relax in, many chairs and tables to sit at, even if you are only waiting for the AEOA BUS. Come in for a cup of Coffee, Tea, etc. and a bowl of freshly popped PopCorn.
