How secure are we?

Are we paying attention? Probably not.

According to a NBC.com report on March 19, 2013, U.S. Federal Judge Susan Illston last Friday struck down FBI gag orders imposed on companies who receive NSLs (National Security Letters) to release information on people without warrant, and then forbid companies from even acknowledging them or discussing their circumstances. Unlike other subpoenas and warrants, no approval from the judicial branch is required to issue an NSL.

Once again in the worn out name of fighting terrorism, they (FBI) gathered 16,511 NSLs in 2011 according to the report. Companies listed were phone companies, Internet providers, banks and the like, (what is the like?)

Anybody else getting nervous?

At the end of the article, it states “Petraeus case shows ease of government email snooping.”

How secure do you feel now?
