On Sunday afternoon, June 1, local community members found the Hovland Town Hall transformed into a beautiful art gallery. While this is what one would expect to find at the Hovland Art Festival, it was unique since the 13 artists represented were Hovland area children and youth, ages 5 to 12 years. The 120 pieces were inspired and produced during a sixweek art camp sponsored by Trinity Lutheran Church.

Gallery attendees observed works in a variety of media such as crayon-resist, water color, acrylic, even newspaper.

Everyone was treated to ice cream sundaes as well as the opportunity to participate in art-themed games.

During the event, instructor Kristen Carlsgaard commented, “This is the essence of living in community. The kids were encouraged in their learning experience by supportive community members. Now they’re responding with this gift back to all of you.”

The Hovland Kids’ Art will be displayed again at Trinity Lutheran Church during the Hovland Art Festival in July.
